UNSEEN RAIN
Muhammed Celaleddin-i Rumi, who is known as 'Rumi' in the western
world, can be called a mystic poet, a thinker, a theosophist or
a sufi: but if you could ask him, "What are you?" He
would say. "I am nothing but a simple lover of God".
A true lover of God has no definite nationality, language or race
for he loves everything without discrimination. He wrote the masnevi
in six volumes which gives the message of love, unity, perfection,
brotherhood and peace. It teaches man the path of Divine Love
that exalts him from a lower stage to the highest one.
He was born at Balkh in Afghanistan, in the year 1207 and was
brought up under his father's good care who himself was a well
respected scholar and a lover of God. Rumi's father migrated to
the Central Anatolia. He staved in Karaman for some years where
Rumi got married. Being invited by the ruling Sultan Alaaddin
Kaykubat they come to Konya.
Rumi studied Arabic, Persian, theology, jurisprudence, logic,
philosophy, mathematics, Islamic history and commentaries on the
Koran. When he met Shams-i Tebrizi, a great lover of God and a
dervish, his whole life changed. He gave up teaching and became
a Godloving person.
He learnt Divine secrets not from the books but from the chest
of Shams. When shams left him, Rumi was alone He began to moan
like the reed-flute. His soul became restless due to the love
of God.
Rumi passed away in 1273. No trace of his palace or villa is found
today in Konya for he lives in the depths of people's heart.

The Sema: Universal Movement
Sema is part of inspiration of Mevlana Muhammed Celaleddin Rumi
as well as of Turkish customi history, beliefs and culture...
The Sema ceremony represents man's ascent to Heaven, his spiritual
journey, it is his turning towards the truth, his growth through
love, his desertion of his self as a way to lose himself in God,
then his return to being a man who has reached maturity and a
greater perfect.on...
Sema is the way of conveying God's spiritual gift to the people
upon whom he looks with eyes of God. Revolving from the right
to the left around heart, he embraces all the mankind and all
creation with affection, with love...
According to our belief, man has been created with love in order
to love. Mevlana says : All loves are a bridge to divine love.
"Yes, those who have not had taste of it do not know!"...
